Benefit Sanctions

ON thursday i had an appointment with my personal adviser at the job center. To be totally honest i forgot about it untill the time of the appointment. I rang the job center main 0845 number and waited nearly half an hour to be told to ring another 0845 number. AN appointment was made to see someone the next day to expalin why i didn`t attend. I told the guy the truth "that it totally slipped my mind". He said i had a really good record and did`nt make habits of missing appointments, but still had to take my case to the decision maker. Does anyone know how long my benefit will get suspended for as i`m worried about this especially as its neraly time to put the heating on. Many thanks if anyone can advise me.

I think you will have to wait and see what happens. It depends on whether the decision maker got out of the wrong side of the bed or not.0

Thanks for that lol guess it does depend on the persons mood,0
-
Well it shouldnt depend on anyone's mood, it that's the case it's bloody outrageous.
It should be decided on facts, full stop.
If they refuse, then appeal itmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
How could you forget?
It's not like you are busy doing a 40 hour week like some of us do
Amazing how you can post on here yet you are worried about heating in the cold weather. Internet connection (whether it be by phone or PC) obviously comes before keeping warm.
Personally I hope you are sanctioned as there is no excuse to forget when you have nothing else to do all week.0 -
Correct me if I am wrong here, but isn't the purpose of JSA is to help you find a job. What else were you doing for it to 'slip from your mind?' It would be like due to starting a shift at your job and forgeting. JC appointment should be at the forefront of your mind!0

How vindictive of you!:mad:How could you forget?

take no notice of them ,you get a lot of self righteous know it alls on this forum.:rotfl:0 -
Missing an appt can lead to a two week sanction (although it *may* be overlooked). You can appeal, but in the absence of mitigating circumstances, there would be little hope of success.0

Sanctions are applied based on evidence and not on moods of decision makers. You are entitled to apply for hardship for the period of sanction at either 20% (single parent) or 40% reduction. Make sure you ask as soon as you hear decision. You probably won't forget the next appt. Best of luck0

Unless the OP is in a vulnerable group, hardship payments are not made for the first two weeks of a sanction.0
