Hello. I'm in the process of getting quotes together for a Solar PV installation. I've got a visit this week but they have said via email they can do 10 x Sanyo 235 watt modules (2.35kWp) system for approx £8,900 (I'm based in Norfolk).
When they visit, what do I need to be asking?
Looking through the forums there seem to be different Invertors and some have export meters as well? Is how they are fixed important? Does the roof get damp if panels are fitted on top??
is there anything else i need to be aware of??
thanks

Initially the main points will be the location of the inverter (integral garage ?/loft), the fixing of the panels (stay clear of anyone who would drill your tiles), the type of panels (monocrystalline or polycrystalline), is there a remote monitor for the inverter included, how they will wire the system into your existing system (I would prefer a separate consumer unit/henley blocks and tails [instead of multicore] as it allows consumption to be monitored), don't worry about an export meter as you'll likely get one for free in a couple of years time when smartmeters are rolled out (you will have a total generation meter fitted as part of the install) .... and most importantly at the moment, when they could install as, considering possible rumoured events next week, that would impact on whether the price you have been quoted is good, or not so good ...

thanks for your response......... out of interest, is the general consensus that if FIT is reduced as predicted, should the price of panel installs reduce???0

I would say yes. There will be much more suppliers than customers. The price has already dropped greatly in the last few month. I think this is part of the goverments thinking but very tough on anyone caught in the middle. ie payed deposit awaiting fitting but not able to get the registration before the december date. well find outtomorrow.0

Thats a good price for that system. Are the panels the HIT range from sanyo? Ill second what Zeupater said, just ask where they plan to put the inverter, what inverter they plan to use, cable runs, mounting kit they will use, consumer unit upgrade etc.0

With the change of FiT I've put my plans to go solar on hold. Thanks for the advice...0
