You might find you would be better off looking for a local job where you could get rid of the car, even if it pays a bit less. Depends on how much you like your current job.
Hia :hello:
The car I came from was costing me heck of a lot more!! £200 a month fuel and £69 a month insurance(The joys of a 2.0L Honda), compared to a 2.0L Saab diesel (read Vauxhall Vectra!)
I wish I could look for a job closer to home, but this job took me 3 months to find, in the food industry, and privately owned. There's no major risk of loosing the job.
As for liking the job. Very much so.
Cheers

There might be another way. There are cheap foods around or make friends with your butcher and see if you can get lights or stuff they can't sell (assuming is dog or cat - not much use if a rabbit!).
If you do decide you have to rehome - PLEASE do it through a reputable charity that has a no kill policy. Also whatever you do, don't advertise free to a good home or for sale in local papers - dog fighting rings use these to pick up animals as "bait" for training fighting dogs. Not where you would your pet to end up.
Hope you will be able to find a way to keep your pet.

There are a few things in there that could be re-negotiated depending on how you are finding things. I mean it's all very well having a tight budget that squeeks but if it leaves you on the edge and in danger of running up more debt than that's not good.
I'd maybe consider renogtiating the debts that the CAB negotiated for you - they are unsecured and will pretty much have to accept what you can give them. I mean you could always say food prices have gone up and you food budget is say 10 pounds a month higher and use that 10 pounds for a small emergency fund or something?
Also similar thing with the council tax - you can always renogotiate to pay something a little more reasonsable - obviously it will take longer to pay your debt off but if you are struggling it is more in your interest and the council's to ensure a payment plan is affordable and that you can maintain it.
Also with the wifes bus pass is it cheaper to pay monthly? If so I'd relectantly ask a friend or work for a small loan to get the bus pass and ensure they were repaid as soon as possible from the savings it would make.
Is the unsecured loan actually unsecured? If so then presumably you should be offering them a reduced payment like the other unsecured debts otherwise if the other creditors get wind that you are treating one over the others without good reason they might give you hassle.

Also I'd consider joining your local Credit union if possible - purely to try and save the odd pound in there if possible. This would ensure that you would have a small emergency fund and also might entitle you to get a small loan from them if things get more desperate. Obviously this would probably mean having to reduce the council tax payment slightly and the payments to your unsecured creditors and you would need to weigh it all up carefully to decide if you feel it is worth it or not.
Another appraoch might be to consider bankruptcy - it depends on how much negative equity you are in but if there is no equity to take and there is unlikely to be any in the next 3 years it could be worth exploring.

The eldest is coming up 7 years. And we've tried all ways for cheaper kitty food. The best, cheapest, that they'll eat is Kitekat, and at a push Pets at home. Anything else is really wasted on them. =(

Our local butcher is not on best of terms with me! lol! had a major fall out last year because of his idiot driver last winter.. Hey ho. that's another story.
I would only offer of kitties to something like Aristocat rescue or similar. I'd never put them in any form of harm. I hope we can keep them as well.
Cheers

Well there is nothing in your budget that is excessive. Gas and electric are a bit high but being on a key payment meter it will make it more expensive - will your company change you over to a regular meter or do you have to pay for this?
If you are struggling you will have to go back to the ones the CAB negotiated for you and let them know that food etc has gone up.
How long have you got on the council tax arrears?

In my experience cats won't starve themselves, try mixing half the kitekat with half cheap food, if they are hungry they will eat it, if not they could always try for a mouse, lol. Having said that it doesn't mean they won't sulk for a few days though.
We get our dog food in a big sac from the local warehouse the big name label always is removed same with the tins, but the nutritional label is still attached. The main thing we look for is the protein content and don't buy anything below 23% I have seen some as low as 4%. This way he gets big named food but we are not paying for the label.Grocery Challenge Sept 2021 £95.40/£500
