Smart price stewed steak

Went to Asda to get my daughter some 20p tomatos and 4 for £! baked beans and noticed sp tinned stewing steak 89p, has been 1.38 for ages so 49p saving stocked up on a few for my winter emergency box.

I think 20p toms are the cheapest ive heard of are they ok ?

Have you used the tinned stewing steak before? I'm wondering if I stocked up on a couple of tins of this, and with the frozen veg. in the freezer... could make some nice cheap stews over winter! Never thought of buying the tins - would save fridge/freezer space.

Yes have used this before to make pies, stews and on its own with mash and veg or chips. Ifind it a very good standby to have in.

They are KTC ones, in the World Food aisles. Chick peas are also 20p and most of the other tins of beans and pulses they have (kidney beans etc) are 30p or less. They had them on offer 6 for £1 earlier this year and I assume this is a promo for Diwali.

Personally I find them absolutely fine - I suspect you prob get more tomato for your money than the cheaper ones (assuming they might have less tomato and more juice?)

That's good to know that the SP tinned stewed steak is good, I have a horror of fat and gristle and have always shied away from buying these before but I'll give it a try now:)
