The sensible way? Have porridge for breakfast and eat more fruit and vegetables. Drink plenty of water.
The less sensible and lazy way? Buy a bag of wheat bran from the health-food shop and sprinkle a teaspoon or so on food.0 -
Add Oat Bran to your morning cereal.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0

Wholemeal bread (not just brown) ...check the amount of fibre before you buy and aim for at least 2 grams per slice..added seeds and grains will add more fibre,
Baked beans on wholemeal toast
Homemade soups ...add a tin of mixed beans
Nuts
Vegetables
Muesli
Bran flakes, All bran etc
Dark rye ryvita (think 2g per slice...and lovely!)
Baked potato (as long as you eat the skin)
...just a few ideas..obviously loads more!
Aim for about 18 to 20g per day...when you check packets before buying, its actually easy to achieve... and yes..drink plenty!0 -
If you are looking for an easy way to er........."regulate" yourself then I have found the following tasty ways work very "efficiently".
Mango, fresh, when ripe and juicy is delish. Too expensive? Then cheapo tinned Mango works just as well, makes a nice smoothie,(with milk or soya)but just use about one third of a tin until you find out how much you er "need" to get the effect you require.
I use half of a tin.
Dried Mango ( from Morrisons £1.45) is quite tasty makes a nice sweet treat with a cuppa and also has the er "after effects" as a benefit! A bag lasts about 4 days but of course it depends how much you eat at any one time.
Dried figs are very effective chopped on top of cereal/yogurt and very cost effective.
Dates also have the same effect and I used to make Date and Bran Muffins to eat as an alternative to cereal on a morning. (Making your own means you don't have to add as much fat as commercially made muffins.)
I used to use Linseeds which are very effective and have the good fatty acids in them. However, I found that over a period of a few months I put on 3 lbs ( my weight is very stable) by having a tablespoon twice a day on my food...........they are good but even good fat is still a way of gaining weight, so nowadays I stick to the fruit route!!!!!!!!
I eat most other highfiber things others have mentioned too, but like to find simple and tasty soloutions to this old chestnut:)0 -
I have Weetabix for breakfast and handful of Asda Bran Flakes and Morrisons Wheatbran on top.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

If you are increasing fibre intake do it slowly. It'll help to avoid abdominal discomfort or wind...0 -

If you go onto this website you can search for foods that are highest in whatever you need - it's the 'search by nutrient' tab.
Oat bran is a very good source, high in protein, iron, b-vits and minerals, low GI and low sodium, and will help lower bad cholesterol. It can be used wholly as porridge, (less calories that oats) or combined with. Added into muffin/cookie/pancake recipes, used in bread (if you bake), added as a topping onto fruit and yogurt, and cereal.0 -
Brilliant - not needed to 'regulate' more 'encourage' my digestion!
Wish i like mangos/prunes or figs!so far....Radox Waterproof book...10 Business cards (ideal for new pad!)...Fabric samples...Shower timer...Flush saver...Seeds ahoy...0 -
Frozen veg like peas, spinach, carrots. Costs about £1 per bag from the freezer aisle, lasts for ages.
Just grab a handful, and add to whatever you're cooking, e.g. omelette, stew, or zap it as something to add to a microwave ready meal.0 -
These are very high in fibre...

..to be honest, they are very dry and taste like a carpet tile but you will find some good Slimming World recipes using them to make chocolate cake etc. I find the cake very nice but am easily pleased. If you are watching your weight they only have about 12 calories each too.0
