Every nice place I find doesn't seem to do what I want for food. I don't want a sit down 3 course meal, I'd rather have a more informal BBQ or something so people have a good choice of food they can help themselves to it, but they have said they either don't do that sort of food, or won't let us organise our own caterers you have to use their (expensive) caterers.
Is anyone else having this problem?
I'm looking in Surrey & Sussex at the moment, and ideally want a somewhere with a lake on the grounds - I don't suppose anyone has any suggestions of places at all?

One of my closest freinds held her reception at a yacht club in Nottingham a few weeks ago, had a BBQ, & it was wonderful. Is that the sort of thing you are looking for? Are there any in your desired area?0

Have you thought of finding a nice social club?
Our evening reception is in a local bowling club. It's just been refurbished and it's perfect for us and we can do our own catering.
It's cheap as well.0 -
quick search and found this

Doesn't say if you can hire the place, but there should be lots of places that you could find by Googling what you want.

We are having a village hall in order to have our BBQ. No lake though!

The Yacht club looks like I might look into that, didn't think of anywhere like that, thanks alot.
Google is a nightmare to trawl through, but am defintely trying to narrow down ideas with it.0
