Help Needed - New Job

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could answer this question or had any advice.

I was offered a job on monday which i accepted, the job was advertised at an E grade salary but when i received my contract this morning i states i am being paid on a D grade salary a drop of £5000. Can they hire me for a job and then pay me less than the advertised salary?

You should definitely query it as it may just be that they have made a mistake, but they can really do what they like. My job was advertised as being for one year but gradually changed to 6 months by the time the contract came. I wasn't giving up a job for it but I did give up an interview for it which peeved me somewhat.

No reason why you cant reject the job offer, but you would be wise to query the salary, then decide.

I did query the salary and was told it was advertised at a D grade which i know is a lie but i failed to print the advert so i have no proof.

Problem is its taken me 5 years to get this job but right now o hate the company for screwing me over and really don't want to do anything for them.

Have you tried searching for the advert? It may still be out there in cyberspace. Was it on any of the jobsites as their listings often go back a bit?

Depends how much you really want this job. I'd be thinking that if they'd lie about this then what else might they lie about. Unless of course someone made an administrative error when placing the add and they're trying to back track the mistake.
