Argos 3 for 2 on xmas items - watch your receipt!!!

Today I went to Argos to take advantage of the 3 for 2 on xmas gifts and the £20 voucher when you spend over £100. Went through the catalogue and picked items that should have costed with discount (3 for 2) £103.76! Went to the till and it came to £119.26, thiking i had probaly made a mistake i paid and waited for my items. While waiting i checked my receipt and having bought 10 items in the 3 for 2 offer they had only discounted the lowest 3 OVERALL.

So i went to customer services, returned all the items then repurchased in groups of 3 to get the maximum discount.

Original items value = 146.73
Original total = 119.26
revised total = 103.76
free vouchers = 20.00
total saving = 62.97

Im assuming they should have taken the £20 vouchers back when did the full refund but they didnt so that was a bonus, otherwise with putting the items through separately i would have been worse off. all in all seems like a massive con to me but im glad i beat the system today.

ALWAYS CHECK YOUR RECEIPT!!

:)

xx

we got caught out by this last year so were ready for them when the offer came on in sept....we worked out at home the 3 things that were nearest in price then paid then did another transaction...did about 10 in the end but the lady was ok with us
    onwards and upwards
  • Unfortunately this is a common thing, if I take advantage of an offer like this I always pay for separate groups of 3. To be honest, they do say the cheapest item is free!
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare
  • checked my statement today and they managed to mess it up even further..

    £119.26 DR (original payment)

£4.99 DR (new payment in lots)
£25.48 DR (new payment in lots)
£146.73 CR (refund of the original payment.. oh! wait! they refunded what the value would have been if i didnt have any discount)
