Psycho.....?

Hi everyone. This is my first post, though I've followed this site for a number of years. I'm continually awed by the excellent, free and courteous advice on offer -thanks. I'm in chronic, rather than critical, debt - in other words, nothing (hopefully) is about to go seriously pear shaped but a large proportion of available income has to go to servicing loans, credit cards etc...
One thing this forum has taught me is that so much of our spending issues are purely psychological. We live in an age of "consumeritis" where we are subliminally programmed to want more and more and more. Advertisers and marketing companies are supremely skilled psychologists, knowing exactly which buttons to press, and, boy, have they pressed mine over the years. YEA GODS - there is so much I DON'T NEED!!!!!!!:j
But sc*** it. I'm not playing anymore. I'm going to reclaim my money from the hands of the corporate fat cats and make it work for me rather than them.
Thanks for all the advice, folks. I'm on board and will keep you posted.

Very true, I wish I'd learnt this a bit earlier though and perhaps I wouldn't have got in to the debt I did. Hindsight hey?
Everyone is out to make a profit out of YOU - that's why I love this site as it teaches the consumer to almost make a profit out of THEM.0 -
Good luck, I decided in Jan 2009 to sort myself out, haven't looked back.
I've gone from being reliant on overtime in my job just to service my £15k + debt, to looking at getting my first mortgage next year, with a hefty deposit to put down on it and no debt.
Never in a million years, did I think I would be in the position I am in now.
Mainly down to cutting back/out completely and readjusting my lifestyle to throw as much as possible at my debts and spend as little on non essential items as possible.
The years of living a debt free life are well worth the effort in the end.
This board is superb for tips/advice/support/encouragement you name it, you'll get it by posting here.
