Also works well if add seasoning to it before freezing (I've using dried chilli & garlic flakes) just remember to write on the bag if you've added anything!!!!

Is there a way to freeze breadcrumbs so they don't clump together and run freely when taken out of the freezer?

And I assume they are ok to use from frozen otherwise they would go all soggy wouldn't they?

i would dry them out in the oven and just store in an airtight container?

    Hi Wendy,
I put the breadcrumbs in a plastic bag, seal the bag then flatten out so you have a shape like a slice of bread, when frozen scrunch the bag and transfer to a bigger one and repeat. I have a whole loaf in breadcrumbs and they pour out of the bag, no need to bash them to get the amount you want.
  • I freeze breadcrumbs in a little plastic tub and they don't clump together. I use mine from frozen - no point leaving them to defrost; they probably defrost in time it takes to coat your fish/chicken whatever!

I just put them in a plastic bag, freeze and then punch the bag hard to break them up when I want to pour some out!

I just put them in a bag. Although there are a few clumps, they're not really hard and break easily with a gentle squish.

Yup mine too - just in a bag and they do run freely.

I do the same with soft plain biscuits. It's handy if you're making a cheesecake base and have the crumbs already crushed.
