Hi I'd like a bit of advise about the above company please. My partner took out a loan 7 1/2 years ago which he stupidly never paid back (he was young and foolish!). He may have made a maximum of six months worth of payments but that's all. Anyway, he ignored letters off Midland bank then they stopped. Years later, letters started going to his mum's address where he has never lived. She phoned and told them this but did not tell them his correct address. The letters would stop for a while then start again and she'd either phone them saying the same thing or return the letters to the post office saying he was not living at her address. About a year ago, a red postcard landed on our doormat off Mackenzie Hall and we ignored it. We also ignored a couple of letters and heard nothing for about 6 months. They've now started coming again with usual threats and I'm wondering whether we should carry on ignoring them or contact them as I think if I've read up about these things correctly, the debt should be 'statute barred' now. The letters are now saying 'his name' v HSBC mixed. What does this mean? Surely if Mackenzie Hall are now chasing the debt it should be 'his name' v Mackenzie Hall'? Am I right? I'd really appreciate any advise anyone can offer me as I'm starting top worry a bit now as we have 3 young kids and not much money!
