Santander are now refunding interest payments on Cahoot flexible loan's

Hi I wonder if anyone can help me. I took a flexi loan out back in 2001 (rate 6/7% ish I think). I found this thread after searching on how to claim PPI back on this loan because I am positive that i cancelled it online when you could service the loan online with cahoot, yet it was mysteriously put back on without my consent! So that aside, Santander are now charging 20% interest so I think I can claim. I would be really grateful if a kind user could PM me a template letter to use as i have searched and searched but cannot find one?
Also, with regards to the PPI, would I contact Santander or Cahoot?
Thanks in advance0 -

Just an update.
I called them today and asked whether the complaint was anywhere near being resolved.
I was advised, as many have said, that they have eight weeks to respond. That of course goes against the 21 working days that was mentioned in my acknowledgement e-mail and the letter which a number of people got dated 31st January which contained no time scale whatsoever.
When I asked whether my complaint was anywhere near resolution I was simply told 'no'.
By my reckoning I should have a response by 8th March, 8 weeks after my original e-mail.
A waiting game, I fear.
Hope that helps:)
Hopefully I should hear by the 2nd March then. What happens if they don't respond within the 8 week period?0 -
I should imagine they will. Most people seem to have had theirs dealt with within 8 weeks.
If they don't we can perhaps discuss it here. That's why I posted my comment really, just to give a broader picture.
Some are being dealt with quicker than others but I bet it's down to the complexity of each case. Looking back on my balance history (back to 2007, obtained from Noddle) I suspect that additional borrowing etc has made it more complicated for some.
Now I have a date in my head I won't be going home hoping that 'the' letter has been delivered and worrying about what might be contained within. If it's all I hope it is then eight weeks will be well worth the wait:).0 -

If you have no final response after 8 weeks, you can complain to the FOS.
Might be worth giving santander a call a few days before the 8 weeks is up, as they should be calling/writing to you if they cannot resolve within 8 weeks.:beer:0 -
Hi I took out flexi loan in 2002 which has increased from rate of 8% to 20% over the years although no payments have ever been missed. Would appreciate a copy of letter template that is being used successfully by other forum users.
Many thanks.0 -
Hi All
I like many others stumbled across this thread looking for something else so big thanks to those that kicked it off..
I sent my email around 12th Jan I think, still awaiting from anything other than the 'we have 8weeks to respond' reply.....however, something strange happened today...I received a statement from Santander (this is the first I've got since they took over)...
On the statement it lists that I have been paying 0% interest since the 14th July last year to now..(The email I sent in January has been the first I have ever sent so its seems strange they would reduce interest of their own bat in July)...also I have called and asked my interest rate a few times since I placed the complaint and had been told on the phone it was around 18%....by balance doesnt reflect a 0% rate from July either - it should be much less. Has anyone else had this happen?0 -
I did this last year - I had a loan of approx £8000 outstanding at these extortionate rates.
I wrote and complained & got a letter back telling me tough as this was within terms of the agreement.
I would encourage you all to do the same as others on here & put in a complaint as you never know but I would also not assume that you will get anything back as I didnt...0 -
what I find incredible here is how Santander are treating complaints completely differently - some people are getting huge refunds, others are getting £100 offers and some like me, are being told no refund...
Just wish someone from Santander would come forward & say how all flexible loan complaints will be dealt with, but I guess that would be admitting they were at fault...or perhaps MARTIN LEWIS we could call on you to get in touch with Santander on behalf of us all?!
If anyone can help provide a template for complaining about this, I will try again...0 -
This is inconsistent, and a little worrying.0
