Haggling in Goldsmiths - Engagement Ring

Hello all, was just hoping to get some advice around haggling in Goldsmiths - is it possible/how much did you get off?
I know that I could get a much better/cheaper engagement ring in Hatton Gardens or through an independent store but she has seen this one and fallen in love with it.
There are two rings she likes both the same design, one with a .4 carat diamond for £1499 and one with a .5 carat diamond (and slightly better cut/colour/clarity) for £2299. I would like to get the more expensive one but only if I could haggle it down. Was thinking about saying to the salesman that I like both but if .5 was a bit cheaper would go for that instead, but not sure if that is the best haggling tactic!
The only other thing is I can use a gift voucher I can buy at a discounted price which would get me 15% off, so could get the .5 for £1945 but I don't really want to do this incase it makes it difficult to return, i would be happy with less of a discount but able to pay in cash and return it if needs be.
Any help you could give would be very much appreciated!

Loads of scope for a discount, I've both seen it done and know that they provide my company with a corporate discount of 18% (via a 'closed loop' debit card - like the voucher e-cards but can be used it various stores), so I reckon there is scope for at least a 10%/ reduce to 2k discount just for asking at the price you are looking at. Also, do you want to insure it until the wedding? Might make a discount more likely like in computer stores? And imply you are likely to be back for wedding bands?0
