When I worked for Arcadia, I didn't know anyone that hadn't got them who wanted one. But some staff chose not to have them due to not trusting themselves.
War does not determine who is right - only who is left.
  • This will not give you an answer but might help a bit. I work for a bank and had to open an account with them for my salary. They offered me one of the "premium" accounts which needed a credit check and I know they did the normal credit checks on me for that. I can not see any credit being given without the checks.

When you say bad debt do you mean missed payments etc or just a large amount?

Why not ask HR. If you do get the discount card be aware that it operates exactly the same as a store card. You need to pay of the outstanding balance every month to get the benefit of the discount otherwise the high interest rate negates the discount.

I dont know about the credit checking but when Ive had staff discounts like this, any communication is between you and the card company and I cant see your manager having any idea on whether you were rejected or not. It all gets sent to your house.
