Dental Disaster Before Interviews!!

Ok strange question but here we go.....

I have a couple of job interviews over the next couple of days both in customer facing roles where appearance will be quite important.

Now, typical of my luck, I broke a front tooth last week and had an extraction and now have a gap in the front so look a bit of a mess!! Now, obviously going to be self consicious of this at the interview. Should I say something at the beginning to my interviewers or just act naturally as if everything was ok?

Don't want to come over as a total daftie but don't want them to think I go around like that all the time.:(

  • Why dont you go to the dentist and get a tempoary plate for one tooth?.I think they can do a quick one in a day or so!

Thanks but the dentist takes about 10 days to make a plate up and the interviews are tomorrow and Monday.

So just explain that to your interviewers, I'm sure they will understand, as long as your going to have it replaced, they will be fine about it.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

why not give them a call first thing to see if they can see you later when you have had it fixed and if not let them know what the problem is so when you turn up you don't feel too silly. I am sure if you explain before they will not think bad of you.

I have already postponed both interviews thinking I would have had the plate by now. I am the last one being seen at both jobs so wouldn't be able to buy another week.

Just say something like "I apologise for the lack of front tooth. I broke it the other day, and it's a 10 day wait for the replacement to be made, so until then, I'm stuck with the gap."

    I doubt they'll mind.

Always best to say something though, as otherwise they'll probably sit there thinking "I wonder why he's got no front tooth...?"
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Be honest, they will frown on putting back an interview the second time.

Some chap who got employed at my place tripped up the stairs and had us all in stitches - we now say he did it on purpose so we'd remember him. :rotfl:

Tell them before hand. That's all.
  • I used to work with a woman who was about 50 and had no teeth at all!,she didnt wear a plate and just had black stumps at the back. She was in a professional job that involved networking with others and dealing with clients. We couldnt get over how the boss hadnt said anything to her! It looked really bad and unprofessional.
I wouldnt worry, just tell them you are getting a bridge, they will understand.
