Hi SD, hope you managed to finish your bits and pieces and good luck on Monday. It's always an effort going back after maternity leave but you'll soon settle back in.

Best wishes, Tilly x
Thanks Tilly.
All housework done and sorted, school/nursery bags packed, cheques written for next week's childcare, school dinners etc.
Back to the daily communte into work next week. I know it will be fine once I am there, it's just the thought of going back after being off for 9 months . . . really going to miss the children as I work full-time.
It's made me more determined now to reduce the mortgage balance and looking forward to being on a full wage again. Even though I now have higher childcare costs, I pay childcare costs/school dinner money etc weekly by cheque so that it stays in the account longer - offsetting against the mortgage.

Hi SD, take the week easy, do your utmost not to get stressed, picture yourself on Friday evening, first week complete and then you can decide how the following week will be.

Good luck back at work SD, hope its a nice smooth transition back to being a working mum from being home with them all the time. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Good luck SD, hope it all goes well.
Going back to work is like riding a bike - the chain may slip off and you'll get oil on yourself, and your bum will get numb, but you never really forget how.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Thanks for all the messages.
Well, first day back in work went well. After being there for 10 mins it felt like I have never been away! There are quite a few changes but it won't take long to get up to speed with things.
DS2 was marvelous in Nursery today and both Boys gave me really big hugs when I came home from work, so that has made my day.
It's going to take a while to get back into the routine of things and have got a cleaning rota on the fridge i.e. Bathroom on Monday's, Living Room on Tuesday's etc as it's the only way I am going to be able to keep on top of everything :rotfl:.0 -
Glad it went well Sweetdaisy.0

Been back in work for a fortnight and it feels that I haven't been away, so settled back into a routine very quickly.
Got paid £26 by TCB today, so have made an overpayment on the mortgage. As the interest rate on our mortgage went up last month, our monthly interest has increased by £25 a month, so I am keen to get the monthly interest amount under £200.
Did my food shop last week and was £15 under budget and this week's shop was £23 under. I am keeping all of this money together until the end of the month and will save half of it and overpay with the other half.
I've been keeping a spending diary since January, but not sure that I need to continue to put everything into it now, as I have dramatically reduced our spending. I used to buy quite a few things on impulse, but no longer do this as I tend to save my money for the things we need and buy better quality products that will last longer, rather than cheap stuff. It has been an eye opener to see where our money is being spent.
Our vegetables are growing well. Not quite sure what's happening with the potatoes (we are growing them in bags) as they are taking a long time to get green shoots. May have to plant some more if nothing happens in the next fortnight or so.0
