Hi SD, it will soon be 2013 and a new chapter awaits. It's great that your DH has been able to do some further training.

Thanks Tilly - 2013 will definitely bring some challenges! Hopefully DH will get a job soon and I will also be looking to change my job, as organising childcare is going to be difficult if DH gets a job working shifts.0 -
Received £31.50 from GTM surveys, so have added half to the mortgage overpayment 'pot' and half to our savings account.
I have had two days annual leave from work, so back in tomorrow. Can't believe that it's Christmas next week. I won't get that 'wind down from work feeling' on Friday as I am working Christmas Day and Boxing Day - so looking forward to being off on Christmas Eve. Spent yesterday shopping for last minute non-perishable food items and writing Christmas cards for family and DS1's school class!
I sorted out my wardrobe (again) today. This time everything came out - DH and I had a good sort out of clothes and between us we had 2 bags of clothes to be sent for recycling. I have also been looking for a new handbag and saw one a few days ago in Tesco for £35 - but glad that I didn't buy it as I found a handbag hidden away that is just the right size/style. So I have saved myself some money by 'making do' with what I have.

:xmassmile Christmas has come early for us :j
DH had a phone call yesterday to attend a meeting with a Recruitment Agency this morning and he will be starting a temporary job on 2nd January. It is a picker/packer job that is local to us and working hours are Mon to Fri 8am-4:30pm (so we don't need to change our childcare arrangements).
The job is temp for a few weeks but DH was given the impression that if he does well in this job and is reliable (which he is) then other opportunities for more permanent work will be coming up in the New Year - but he needs to do this job first. He was also advised not to sign off from JSA until he starts the new job.
We are so relieved. Even though he will be earning less than before - his weekly wage will cover our weekly spend, so I won't need to dip into his redundancy money so the Offset will be working hard to reduce our mortgage.
