Bad practice on behalf of the employer. If they make you use your own card then they should ensure they re-imburse you in a timely fashionIt's taken me years of experience to get this cynical0

You would normally get 56 days interest free so seems very slow for them to reimburse!!
Speak to whoever signs off your expenses, certainly when its happened to me in the past they have paid it back without issue.0 -
I think I might have a chat first, rather than just putting the claim in. But if you are out of pocket due to their tardiness, then I think you would be entitled to claim the difference. It may not 'feel right', but actually, the employer has already broken the rules by not paying up quickly.
Of course, it also depends how much we are talking about and how frequently it is likely to happen. If it were a one off for a small amount, I may not bother, but if it's more frequent then I think I'd make a point of it!0 -

As above, discuss it first, but as it is their fault they should cover it. The company I work for always reimburse if it is their fault, although generally they are very fast at paying.Life is too short to drink bad wine!0

My old firm had an expense item of 'credit card interest'.. which was easy to sort out.
Not that I'd ever use it.. i'd rather just use up my savings and get the money back in the future.0 -
Of course i would claim this. It's entirely reasonable - you shouldn't end up out of pocket for purchasing goods and services for your job. No one would bat an eyelid in any office I've ever worked in.
p.s. i think surely they'd EXPECT you to claim this if it's been 3 months since they were last able to pay you? Unprofessional to say the least that they'd allow the situation to happen, nevermind that they'd question claiming it back!:D0 -

But that's all well and good if you have savings.
Personally I'd never let myself be out of pocket even if I did have savings to cover it, because the fact is that expenses are coming out of people's wages - I think it's a big ask to get someone to shell out £5k on a personal account in the first place, never mind to ask them to cover the interest.
I'd claim it back out of principal that it's - frankly - just a !!!!!! thing for an employer to do.0
