It's been a good few days. Swimming on Tuesday. A rather frank discussion at work on Wednesday about where things are headed at the moment that may help turn things in the right direction. Swimming this morning, when I managed to do a mile (unheard of before work) :j and beat my previous time by a whole 12 minutes :T. Of course, this sets the bar somewhat high for my morning swim now, but it'd be great if this could be a regular thing (although partly depends on what time I get in the pool).
Annoyingly I found out yesterday I have to be out of the office for a few days, but nothing is confirmed yet, so I can't arrange cars, places to stay, etc, and am in a bit of a panic about it all going horribly wrong. On the plus side, I sould get a few extra days of not using my car, meaning I will definitely make it to pay day without needing to add fuel, so the remaining money in the fuel budget for the month can be added to my OP
.
I'm getting quite excited now, it's payday next friday and I can't wait to see how much we've managed to allocate for the OP. I also will be spending that weekend doing my Christmas shopping (providing I have lists by then), the money for which will come out of the £300 allocated for savings, as it is from the savings that presents will be purchased in future, and any money left over will boost the savings amount. Last year I think I spent £6 on presents as I bought everything using Nectar points and that was the remaining balance. I have less Nectar points available this year (kept spending them on bits for the garden), but will have a good go at seeing how little I manage to spend this time. This is quite difficult as the boy's family go absolutely crackers at Christmas, although I understand this is because his grandmother was particularly poor, but saved every penny she could throughout the year to ensure everyone had a nice christmas, when they could all share it together.
As for this weekend, hopefully doing a few more bits in the spare room. I can't wait to get it to the decorating stage, and have laid down the law that the room must be finished by Christmas (excluding furnishing it), so we shall see

Hello Everyone,
Well I've made it through what felt to be a very long week away with work and have arrived at the weekend :j.
Friday was payday and, after a rather successful month on fuel and grocery spends, have made my second overpayment of £110
. Haven't managed to add to the savings pot as I'm using that money to by the xmas pressies, nearly done now and whatever is left over will be tucked away for a rainy day.
However, have started this month badly by massively overspending on groceries, in part due to needing to by some toiletries. Hopefully it will not have too much of an impact, but will have to keep a close eye on the rest of the week.
Today we plaster in the spare room now the light and sockets are done, make some soup and batch cook bolognaise for lasagne.
Hope you are all having a great weekend.
