We have wooden floors. Does having a rug down make it feel warmer?

    thanks :)

yes, i think putting a rug down will make a difference, mine definitely has although the long term aim is to replace the wooden floor with a carpet. Unfortunately before I do this i will have to arrange for a joiner to replace the door frame and doors that should be between my dining and living room, these were removed by the previous owners.
  • i am sure it will make it warmer as well as looking warmer.

If you have original sanded wooden floorboards then it's quite possible that there are gaps between the boards and round the edges where drafts are sneaking up. So yes, a rug or fitted carpet would block these and make the room warmer. If you've got laminate though this does stop drafts coming up, but a rug will keep your feet cosier.
