How much water can I drink in a day?

I had 2 teeth taken out under General Anaesthetic today (I have a metal plate in my jaw and my mouth opening is limited so it had to be done while I was asleep).
As well as the GA, I've had a local anaesthetic in my gums, I was sedated (awake but you don't really know what's going on) to have a camera put up my nose and was given something to dry up my saliva. I'm on Tramadol today and maybe tomorrow depending on pain. I had a fluid drip in but only had half of it as the needle had gone in at a funny angle and was rubbing on a bone in my hand. I was nil by mouth from midnight last night until 1pm today.
All of the above can cause thirst on their own (except the drip obviously lol) but together it's driving me crazy! I'm soooo thirsty! I had a litre and a half of water before I left the hospital. Since I've come home I've had about 2 and a half litres of Evian (my tap water is disgusting just now so can't drink it). I'm trying to just sip it instead of drinking it but I was worried that they're might be an upper limit to how much water you should drink.
I tried googling it but I can't find a definite answer, just loads of different ideas on it. THEN I came across an article saying you can make yourself ill or even DIE from drinking too much water!
So, I'm freaking out a bit here. Does anyone have any ideas??
Also, with Evian being a mineral water I'm wondering if there's different rules for that?
Sorry for the long post, hope someone can help me

Water is water, so the fact that it's Evian is neither here not there. You can die from drinking too much (as in the case of Leah Betts) but I've no idea what the safe limit is. I imagine you would have to drink an awful lot in a short space of time to cause problems.0

It would be hard to overdose on H2O although it is possible if your aldosterone levels are f*cked (very unlikely in your situation).Try using a straw if you are concerned?Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

As long as you pee, and are not drinking 2 litres within half hour, you should be fine.
Best bet is to suck on ice cubes/lolly pops, I am surprised hospital never advised on this. Or sip water through out the day.
If you are worried though, you are entitled to ring NHS direct for advice.0 -
Thanks guys. I've been peeing loads so I'm defo getting rid of what i'm drinking. It's medical book syndrome isn't it? You read something and start to panic lol
The hosp checked that I'd had a drink (I'd had a jug and a half) and advised me to stick to a soft diet of food at room temperature, I had a lukewarm cup a soup and a yoghurt that I left out the fridge for a wee while but I've never thought before about the top amount of water to drink. I've stopped drinking it just now, will just take enough to wet the inside of my mouth for next couple hours then have a proper drink then just sip. I've got the docs tomorrow so I'll ask him what his advice is on the matter
