I know there are a million posts re slow cookers on here but I just don't have time to look through them all
All it is: I've just cooked a big chicken & veg on slow for 13.5 hours. But daughter has taken to her bed and it may be a few hours till we eat. How long can I safely keep it on warm before we eat?
Hope someone can help me out, thanks. x

I would just keep it on low in the slow cooker if you don't have a warm setting.
I keep a stew or chilli cooking for hours and hours.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

Leave it on low and about 30 min before you eat turn it higher to get piping hot.
You will be fine as long as piping hot when served

Even tho on low now (and has been for 13+ hours!) its still bubbling hot.
I was worrying about it going leathery which is why I thought it might be best to keep it on WARM - then I could bung it on high when we nearly ready to eat, what do you think? Or should I just leave it on low, and bubbling all the way?
sorry to be so indecisive. Even tho I'm nearly 60 I have lost all confidence in my cooking skillsHad a slow cooker for years and never questioned myself but these days.........

my slow cooker recommends only leaving on warm for 2 hours, to be honest a whole chicken should still be hot enough to heat if left on warm0

Remember if you have a microwave it is a vacuum and if you put hot meals in there and leave the door closed they will stay warm for a little longer too :-)Women who suffer from Domestic Violence are not victims.... They are survivors....

That's not true... The microwave definitely doesnt create a vacuum. In fact, it isn't even airtight! It does have less air circulation than on the worktop and is an enclosed space so it would hold a temperature better.
