Recipe idea needed please

Hello All

Languishing in freezer I have a packet of quorn fillets. Kids and OH aren't keen on the texture but I want to use them up! Also have almost a full bottle of Sharwoods plum sauce (given to me by my mum - heaven knows why she bought it in the first place, but it needs using up today  ) Sauce says suitable for glazing and dipping, but doesn't say if suitable for cooking in - do you think it would work if I poured it over the quorn filletts and cooked them in the slow cooker?

Any advice gratefully received:rolleyes:

I think it would turn out very nice. You may need to water the sauce down a bit though - trial and error on that one (cook it for a while then see)
I have cooked with Sharwoods dipping sauces before and they are fine (I roasted cocktail sausages in hoi sin and plum with a bit of honey and mustard seeds - they go all sticky and yummy) - I digress... the sauce would hide the quorn (cube it maybe) and add some veges as further disguise. I think it would taste a bit like a sweet and sour chicken dish

i'd say, add a bit of water when you add the sauce, the quorn takes up a lot of liquid.

have you seen the other thread about quorn today?

As far as I remember quorn fillets dont take long to cook so I'm not sure about using the slow cooker - would it be beneficial for this? I would use the sauce with tthe quorn, perhaps stirfry some veg with the quorn diced add the sauce and cook quickly - add some noodles and hey presto.

    just a suggestion.

Yes, that is a good point - rather stir fry it!

Thanks Ladies - went with the stir fry suggestion, sliced the quorn into strips, and stir fried with onion and red pepper, then added the plum sauce and heated through - it was GORGEOUS!....and my family, who as I said usually moan at the texture of quorn loved it...thanks again.
