Emailed job application - how do I know its arrived?

I have applied for a new job at a local school. Emailed the application, my CV and a covering letter to the address given on their website vacancy advert, but its half-term here, so I have no way of checking that its has successfully arrived. I have asked the person I sent it to to send me an acknowledgement of receipt, and also followed up to the main website contact address this morning, asking for the same.
Closing date for the advert is tomorrow  School doesn't re-open until Monday, so is there anything else I can do to ensure its got there! I don't want to sound too desperate (although I am dead keen as its an ideal post for me), but would hate to miss out because my application failed to arrive! Help please!

Phone on Monday morning. There is nobody in the office tomorrow to administer the applications; they set a Friday closing date to ensure first thing Monday they can go through them.
Don't worry about it either! Just double check the email address then forget it and enjoy your weekend!0 -
Is there any reason it wouldn't have gone through? If it hasn't bounced back, relax, it's there.
Don't get on their nerves by bugging them about it...Cash not ash from January 2nd 2011: £2565.:j
OU student: A103 , A215 , A316 all done. Currently A230 all leading to an English Literature degree.
Any advice given is as an individual, not as a representative of my firm.0 -

That refers to MS Outlook which, as far as I'm aware, is only in MS Office. Outlook Express isn't included in Windows 7 is it? I don't think, for those that have W7 (but not MS Office) there is a way of getting a read receipt but I might be wrong.0 -
Thanks all, I know I am being a bit paranoid, but never completely trust modern technology not to let you down when you really need it. It just seems so easy to push the "send" button and have everything magically find its way to the right place. I have never been asked to email application before - always hand delivered or posted.
I'm know it will have arrived, but there is always a nagging doubt!
Thanks again

That's exactly what I'd do when I was a recruiter - it stopped me going through dribs and drabs of CVs and be less structured in my approach and helped me get through all of the CVs in one go.glasgowdan wrote: »Phone on Monday morning. As it is an application for School staff the email account you sent this to is more than likely to be checked by staff and if the closing date is monday they should hopefully reply, you should bare in mind that one vacancy could have had 2-300 applicants.
I know the schools I deal with who have adverstised for staff check the email account regular but sometimes the sheer volume of applicants means that it may be some time after sending it.0
