Making scented sachets

I have lots of felt and want to make scented sachets but in an attempt to be thrifty don't want to be buying lavender etc.

I have some wadding, would it work if I sprayed this with perfume and then filled the bags?

I'd like to know too. I've heard of using crushed pot pourri (which is surely just dried flowers which have been sprayed with perfume?).

Are there no places near you where you could ask a neighbour for some lavender in exchange for a good deed perhaps?- It's a good time to cut it now. Just crush the lavendar before you put it in the sachets

the problem is the perfume will evapourate very quickly, what you need is a perfumed oil eg aroma therapy so the fragrance will last
