    Hi mixedfeelings

Sorry to hear you are feeling so low at the moment..... but things are about to get a whole lot better with the support on here and by sorting out a new bank account.

I was going to say the same as Memory Girl and get yourself on freecycle for a fridge freezer, the are an amazing website and I have both given and received LOTS of things on there.

Once you have sorted your income and outgoings to your new account you will feel much better and more at ease as Barclays will not be able to TAKE anything off you.

    Good luck
  • Thanks ever so much, I have been looking around the site here and there are some great money saving tips,Im going to try them out to try and get my outgoings lower.

I will get a new bank account, should I wait until the New Year before I transfer everything over? The reason why I ask is I can borrow a little money off of a friend and use my overdraft to make possibly another 1 or two payments? It will be tight but I can probably just manage it. I just feel terrible because these debts are mine and they are my responsibility and Ive just let everyone involved down including myself and if I can manage to pay something I feel I should.

There's a saying on here - that you can't pay debt with debt. The reality is that you are going to default and start paying back your debts at an affordable rate sooner or later, better sooner and it being in your control than the Bank getting wind that something is up and shutting you down.

Be Brave and draw a line under it now - it will all be settled down soon and you can enjoy a Christmas living within budget. Wouldn't it be great to be rid of the stress which cannot be helping your health?

No sense getting yourself deeper in a hole hon, no sense at all. You will continue to pay off your debts, but a level that you can afford so no need to feel ashamed.

    FINALLY AND OFFICIALLY DEBT FREE
    Small Emergency Fund £500 / £500
    Pay off all Debts £10,000 / £10,000
    Grown Up Emergency Fund £6000 / £6000 :j
    Pension Provision £6688/£2376
  • Oops sorry it doesnt come from anywhere, I copied the SOA example from the sticky and it was on that and I forgot to delete it. So sorry,Im in such a state I cant think straight.

Thanks everyone for the advise,I wont talk to Barclays before open a Co-op account. I just feel really guilty because if I could pay my debts I would, I feel very ashamed right now.

try to keep ur chin up hun, u mustn't be ashamed we all make mistakes and most of us have been guilty of thinking "yeah i can afford that" only to find out we cant.

im disabled myself so i know where your coming from hun, and well done you for being so honest on ur SOA.

you have recieved some very good advice here and i dont think there is anything i could add, just some support xx

i know it seems grim now but u have taked the first and hardest step, believe me it gets easier from here. plus with this board you will have some outstanding support, stay strong hun x
  • Hi. I absolutely agree with Memory Girl - you know you are in a hole so now is the time to face up to it and start a new chapter - there's no point waiting until January. The banks won't care 2 hoots whether you default now or in January.
I know someone suggested a DRO for you but if you feel that you wish to repay every penny that you've borrowed then you can - even if it's 1 pound at a time. Things have changed - obviously you took the loans in good faith but things are different now. You need to try and get yourself on an even keel (with a new bank account) and then think about how you can sort out the debts.
    Best of Luck

    1. a. Phone at £33 is high.
    4. Iv also got to say, £300 food for one person if high

Maybe so, and I'm sure the OP can budget to lower thise figures. But it's fine for a DRO.

Trigger figures for a single person are:

    Food & Housekeeping £303
    Phone £35

In theory it is fine according to trig figs yes, but if adding all the expenses up comes to more than OP is getting in, which it seems to, then it is not feasible long term.

So sorry you are having such difficulties OP, I don't have much to add (paulmapp covered it pretty well), other than well done for posting and good luck :T.

    But it doesn't...

    Income £810

    Expenses

    Rent - £50
    Electric - £80
    TV License - £12
    Virgin £43.00
    Phone - £33
    Food - £300
    Travel 65.00
    Clothes- £3
    Emergency- £10
    water rates- £36
    cleaning help- £80
    Laundry- £20

    Total expenses £732

On the face of it the OP has £78 surplus but this needs some tweaking, and as half the income is probably DLA, this can be shown as an 'in' and an 'out' on the DRO application.

I looked at the original SoA, where outgoings came to more than what was coming in, assuming this was just outgoings, has the OP also added in debt payments here then, making actual outgoings lower ? I have brain fuzz today, think I might stop giving advice until I don't ;). Clearly some sort of explanation of where the DLA is needed (eg higher food ?) would be of influence to anyone looking at this (creditor etc).
