Just thought I would share what we do incase anyone struggles like my Mum did for years. A few of her friends have kids with learning disabilities (who are now adults), my Mum always struggled to find a suitable birthday card as ones in the shops tend to have ages on. For the past few years however we have made our own on places like funky pigeon and moonpig, simply finding an image online of their favourite character, uploading it as a card and sometimes using something like photobucket to edit it slightly (Ie Thomas the tank enginge had the receipients name on his number plate, FiFi had a big 21 on for the 21st birthday), they love them so much one takes his everywhere with him, refuses to put it down and sleeps with it in his bed for ages. You can put anything you want on them and as one receipient has an obsession with lawn mowers we found a picture of a lawnmower with a face on to go on the inside.
Its actually quite MSE as it works out cheeper than the shop brought ones although thats not the reason we would do it and the delight they take in them we would pay so much more!
I hope it helps someone else and brings some smiles about
