1st time buyer with bad credit

Hi
I am just back from seeing a mortgage broker re getting a mortgage my credit is not great i have one default on my credit that the Ulster Bank have agreed to remove which is great. but i have another one that has been settled for £500 it was a genuine mistake i changed my address with the bank and they took it down incorrectly, the debt slipped my mind as it was a student o/d and they defaulted me and sent the letter to the wrong dress.
Anyway besides that i have one or two late payments. do you think i will still be able to get a mortgage? my parents are prepared to co-sign as security for me.

any advice would be greatly appreicated :)
