Me and Brian

Not sure if this is the right place to post this thread but here goes..
3 weeks ago I had an 'out of area' phone call from a nice Indian man.
me 'hello'
NIM 'hello can I speak to Mrs ****
Now Mrs *** was my previous married name 21 years ago ..so
Me 'Why?'
NIM' Are you Mrs ***?'
Me 'no' (well it's true)
NIM 'Is she there?'
Me 'why?'
NIM 'are you the owner of this telephone?'
Me 'Why?'
Phone went dead
Next call
NIM 'Can I speak to Mrs *** ?'
Me ' no , we have already had this conversation now go away'
I put down the phone
3 more calls over 3 days where I just picked it up and put it back down
Then another 3 this weekend
Last one.. same guy
NIM 'Mrs ***?'
Me ' who wants to know?'
NIM 'this is not a sales call'
Me ' OK .. so who are you and what Company are you calling from?'
NIM 'My name is Brian'
Me ' OK what Company are you calling from and what do you want?'
NIM (now known as Brian) ' are you Mrs *** .. is there another member of the family there connected to Mrs ****?' ( he was getting a bit irrate)
But bless .. we are getting friendly now so I wanted to help
Me 'OK Brian tell me the Company you are calling from and I will try to help'
To my horror the call was ended by Brian.. just went dead .. my new friend who was so keen to trace Mrs *** he has been calling for 3 weeks.
I am gutted .. so Brian, if you are out there ..
Give me a call .:T
Seriously does anyone have any idea what this call is about?
I am sure I cleared all my debts all those 21 years ago and where the heck has he got my number from? I have been here over 9 years and not been refered to as Mrs *** for years as I remarried 20 years ago.
My credit file is clean.. I checked just in case Brian was being mislead or nosey

Could be anything from a legitimate trace to give you money (v unlikely, but can happen), someone chasing an old debt, someone selling something (badly ;)), right through to the usual scams or other dodgy phishing calls.

Have you got a real number they are calling from?

Hi .. no it's out of area and 1471 just brings up number withheld.
I have a son who has my previous name but he has assured me that he is not being chased for any debts. I checked with him to make sure today.
Perhaps next time he calls I should just say Yes when he asks for Mrs **** ?

Personally I would deny all knowledge. At best, it would be a sales call? They are after all asking for someone who ceased to exist all those years ago...
