Options
A Country the size of ours could make do with under 30 MLA's at most instead of these worthless greedy !!!!!!!s

You would think they would have the sense not to do this. They should be setting a standard.

It would be like me asking my brother to tender for work for a client. It is actually worse than that it would be like me GIVING work to my brother to do for a client. I wouldn't think of doing either, because it would put me in an invidious position.

Were there interviews for these jobs, or does such considerations as fair employment only apply to the rest of us? Apart from that are the people employed the best to do the work? Are we the taxpayers getting a second rate service, because the staff are perhaps not the best available?

Apart from Sinn fein if I am reading it correctly.

Although assembly rules allow it Sinn Fein has a policy of not allowing MLAs to employ their relatives as it is "unprofessional," according to MLA Pat Doherty.

I am tempted to set up a FaceBook page called the Pigs on the Hill.

Bet it would be well supported!!

An efficient process, resulting in so many desirable individuals ending up in roles where they cannot be of offence to anyone. They should all copy this process. Maybe when Mark Haddock is freed we can make him Social Development Minister a la Sinn Fein's benign policies.:money:
  • i know an mla personally who is paying his wife as his "office assistant" £23,000 pa when she hasn't set foot in the office (apart from the official opening to get her photo in the paper) and the person who is actually doing the work is paid less.

The same person also pays for oil for the office out of offical expenses but the office does not have oil heating. Both of these I know for certain as I have seen documentary proof.

If it wasn't for the fact that I would get a good friend in trouble for showing me it, I would report it.

    Absolutely disgusting.

I'm not a Sinn Fein supporter but if they have a policy of not employing family then good for them.
