Christmas hamper recommendations

I'd like to get my father-in-law a hamper for Christmas. My mother-in-law has been very ill this year and he has done a marvellous job looking after her. She doesn't eat (fed via PEG tube) and I know he doesn't bother too much about himself, so I'd like to get him a hamper full of Christmas specials that he wouldn't get himself.
Does anyone have any recommendations of a good Christmas hamper. I was looking at the M&S ones, but are there any other recommendations?
Thanks for your help.

Do you have time to do it yourself? It's always more personal, and shows you've put alot of time in to it as not all from the same shop. I'm doing one for my MIL and she's on her own. £5.99 for a pretty big basket that's lined from home bargains. Nice sauces and pastes from M and S, Lidl have loads of nice continental stiff like caramelised almonds, stollen, panatone(?), gingerbread houses, bucks fizz is only £1.99 there. Got a nice hot chocolate mug, some green and blacks etc. Make it really personal and probably less money than M and S and more thought xMarried the lovely Mr P 28th April 2012. Thanks for the response. I do have time and suggested this to my OH. He strongly wants to buy one as he thinks it will look like a charity box if we do it ourselves! I thought the idea of doing it ourselves was good as I could make sure it had stuff he likes (and is good for him!) in there. MIL is far more of a problem though -she doesn't eat, drink, read, bath, go-out and I am really at a loss what to give her- she has so many photos of the grandchildren not sure what to get for her.........0

Must admit I bought the M and S ones last year and they looked fab, much better than what I could do myself. They were on offer reduced from £27 to £13 a couple of weeks before christmas. It is the festive cheer one, I think it is £30 this year.
I know what your husband means. It is a shame cos all we would do is throw the box away after opening.Money SPENDING Expert0 -

I've always found Bothams of Whitby very good for hampers. They're the only ones I've found where you don't end up with 2 or 3 things that no-one likes.
My in-laws were very much plain food types so didn't like much in the usual Christmas hampers but were fine with some of the Bothams ones.0 -
There is no reason for it to look 'charity shop' .... but you do need to ensure the presentation is good. You need cellophane and a big bow and if this is the only thing you need cello for, I would buy both from a florist. I bought the M and S one last year for one of my Aunties, and even tho great value (as on MSE special half price!?) the real value of the items was much less than I spend. But as they delivered it and with the weather I could nt be sure i would living 70 miles away it worked. My Mum and Dad had home made and it was luxury. the best thing to do is buy as you see special offers. ...I already have my marmalade, biscuits put aside . This year as I have more time on my hands I have also made some of what i usually buy... Chilli Jam (Nigellas) Red Onion Marmalade and Sloe Gin and Vodka.0
