Stay or Go ?

Need some advice Guys ! Facts below to consider for us please !

Wife on sick leave from NHS hospital ( domestic ) with COPD & arhtritis , we do not think she will be going back to her job as its getting too much for her condition which will only worsen !
I get Pension Credit as wife is P/T less than 16 hours a week !
Will be submitting monthly pay slips to DWP each month for top up as wifes wage is very good , 1 &1/2 on saturdays and double time sundays , SSP less than 1/2 her monthly total .
So now we come to the nub ..................
Would o/h be better off handing in her notice and me claiming for both of us on my Pension Credit ?
Should o/h stay on sick leave and wait for dismissal , as will come eventually ?
o/h will claim for DLA soon , would her notice affect the DWP or DLA decisions in any way ?
If it helps o/h has been in this job for over 10 years now and has an excellent work record until the onset of this illness !
Hope you can advize Guys
Regards
