York - good hairdresser recommendation!

Hi everyone

I'm a student in York and would usually get my hair cut & coloured at home, but I'm desperate to get my roots done and don't have time at the moment to go home for this luxury..

Could anyone recommend a good hairdresser they use in York? Ideally I'd like to pay no more than £50 for cut & colour (foils).

Personally, I always do my own roots - £4 at home, but if you really want to use a salon I'd suggest trying York College's salon (where students practise on the paying public!). Students are closely monitored by teachers and prices are very cheap, e.g. cut & blow for £7; full head tint for £15.

Alternatively, avoid hairdressers in the town centre (they have to pay high rents = high prices) and ask for some recommendations for a local hairdresser. There are some really good ones out there (the only one I know is Evolve on Scarcroft Rd and I'm pretty sure they offer a 20% student discount).
