Not on the electoral roll... disaster?

Hi all.
So it turns out that my housemate didn't add me when filling out the electoral roll form... I went to the council to get myself added and as I have missed the last deadline, I wont be registered till December.
As I am currently trying to get a mortgage, they said they could provide a letter to state that I would be added to the roll later on and I had confirmed my new address with them. Is this likely to be enough to get a mortgage or will I have to wait until I am actually on the register?
Thanks in advance for your help.

There may well be a rolling roll so use http://www.aboutmyvote.co.uk/Default.aspx to contact your electoral registration office to find out what the situation is.

You don't "need" to be on the electoral roll to get a mortgage. Try someone else if they don't like it. I got my mortgage without having previously been registered on the electoral roll. I was a temporary lodger and did not want to register as I didn't feel I needed to.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Thanks all. So not entirely hopeless then.
Do people find it's the banks that tend to refuse you based on this rather than the building societies?0 -
Shouldn't be a problem as long as you are credit worthiness. I'm not on the electoral roll (as I'm not allowed to vote) and have got an AIP with ING. My Experian score was 997 prior to ING credit search, so it seems not being on the electoral roll only knocked off 2 points off my score.0

Not being on the VR is not helpful, but provided you can be found when they do a credit search - i.e. you have credit registered at the address, most lenders wll be ok, suggestyou speak to a broker, and explain the situation, they can then place your aplication where you have the best chance.I am a mortgage adviser. You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Thanks again for the responses. I've now found a local broker so will have a chat with them about it tomorrow. Fingers crossed they can sort something.0
