'you wouldn't worry about what people think, if you realised how seldom they do'
  • Hi all, Just a quick message...I joined mse in august 2010 with a whopping debt of over £25500 and am pleased to announce my bank just sent me a letter confirming that I am 100% DEBT FREE at last :j:j:j
I can now focus on saving up to buy my first home. (I am viewing my first one tomorrow!) It was a struggle to clear the debts but now I own my car, have no credit cards and have paid off two bank loans (one was consolidated several times over 14 years!)...
I thought I would THANK everyone on here for the inspiration and help with the frugal living and advice. I sadly have been lowered to just 5 hours a week work at a pathetic £6.55 an hour so I wont be rich...but at least it will all be mine and my families. :T
I hope that 2012 helps you all through to clearing your debts too. It is such a good feeling. Good luck and keep going it is worth it :)

    Merry Christmas

Well done! that is brilliant. I am currently trying to sort out my own debit problem, the main one being my daughter who constantly asks for extra money and I give in.:( However, I have decided now to let her stand on her own two feet as I am overdrawing more and more each month. I currently have a £900 credit card debit which is at 0% interest until next November so hopefully I can pay it off by then and stop overdrawing. You have been a great inspiration to me. thanks very much:)

Can I join your nerd club please by the way? thanks
Credit card debt £480- interest free until Aug 2014
  • Time for me to join, I think.

I can still remember the satisfaction from clearing and cutting up my old storecards and credit cards, and can look forward to clearing a credit card balance from Egg that was originally £3,200 and is now, having overpaid consistently, down to £180, by March, a loan for £3,500 is to be paid off later this year and I am left with 1 outstanding 'closed' (ie, I chose to not accept the interest rate increase) card account and the catalogue - as I settled another mail order/high interest one last night :j:

All other accounts are up to date and, as far as I can tell, there are no unpleasant surprises waiting for me somewhere.

The end is in sight :)
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.
