What shall i do with 5p?

Hey all,

I got a credit card statement at the wkend for a capital one account that has been clear for months, so i glanced at the balance and was amazed to find that it has 5 pence credit in it! This is some kind of rebate i think.

What on earth am i going to do with 5p? I can't spend on the card as nothing worth 5p is worth buying on a credit card, and something over 5p is not worth the hassle of paying off at a later date for the sake of 5p. Nor can i realistically ask them to send me it!

Any ideas?

They can send a cheque I kid you not - I have had a cheque sent for 3p when I closed a credit card. Oh how i laughed, it costs more than that to process it!

Why not ask for it back? I'm sure that the credit card company would not hesitate to demand it from you if the tables were turned!

Alternatively, ask them to donate it to a charity of their choice...

Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.

I would ask them to send you it, as lets face it if you owed them 5p they'd ask you to pay it! Mind you it would probably cost a lot more than 5p for the phone call to ask for it back

Hello Tsharp  - I had a crapital one card and I couldn't wait to get rid of it. What I'd do is shut the account down and ask them to refund any credit. And also get them to send you an official letter that you can send to Experian to `up' your credit rating saying the accounts formally cleared and closed.

As far as I'm concerned it's still my money whether it's five pence or 500!!! lol

The charity idea might be good. I was thinking of keeping the capital one card once i have cleared the £600 debt on my halifax card. Simply cos it seems like capital one have better offers and their rates are better. Any thoughts on this?
