Whats your budget?

Does anyone else get annoyed when suppliers keep asking this? Why cant they just tell me how much it costs instead of 'working to a personal budget' i.e. trying to squeeze every last penny out of me! I just want to know how much what i want costs then i can decide if its within my budget/value for money. I also dont appriciate people blatently putting up their prices and having 'no pricelists avaliable'. Oh and being asked by a supplier what price i was quoted previously is just a slap in the face. rant over.

  • I would really hate it. When we organised our wedding I made sure the first thing I told them was the date and that we were on a very tight budget and asked them if they were free and what price.

They will assume that people making general enquiries and wanting to talk about things other than price meant that price isn't their first priority - if you know what I mean.

For a few things if there wasn't an easily available price list I often assumed it would be out of my budget unless I couldn't find a suitable supplier elsewhere I wouldn't talk to them.

I don't deal with suppliers who are cagey or won't give me a price, I just say thank you and don't call them or email them again.

I was getting really annoyed at that too! We know the price of the venue and the registrar fees but for the caterers I gave them a figure we were both happy with and they were able to do it for that so happy-we actually thought it was going to cost a lot more as they have a price list for food and drink and when we priced it separately it added up to at least £1000 more! :)
We're only looking for photographers that have a price list, the DJ is a very good deal but I'm doing my own bouquet and the flowergirls too. One florist got very snippy with me when she asked me my budget and I said not very much. I am going to go to a florists to get my flowers to do my bouquet but needless to say I'm not going back to that one :rotfl: I hate it when there are no price lists.....I just assume that it will be expensive just like in a jeweller's window lol.
