Pumpkin Soup

Options
I have bought my son a large pumpkin for Halloween and would like to try making soup for my lunches next week with the bits from the inside - looking for honest opinions as I have never tried pumpkin soup and wondered if it would taste ok etc.

Honest opinions welcome!

It's one of my fave soups, although if it's a big carving pumpkin they do tend to be grown for size rather than flavour so I would be tempted to roast the flesh before souping it to boost the flavour as much as possible. It's also a soup that works well with a distinct curry or chilli kick.

stiltwalker is right! you can boost the flavour by roasting the pumpkin first (getting it out of the pumpkin in chunks is gonna be fun! you will get plenty though.
I like to add a couple of cloves of garlic and a sprinkle of sugar along with salt and pepper and a little oil when roasting Squashes.
all you need to do then is add the roasted pumpkin to some good chicken or veg stock, simmer for ten minutes and blitz or blend - reheat and its georgeous!
