advice on getting refund from opticians

Options
Hi there all
this is probably the wrong place to ask this but...
I had my eyes tested and said that I had tried varifocals a few years earlier (with a different branch of the same company) but couldnt get on with them but I would like to try again. No probs if you dont get on with them we will change them for you. First pair no good as I had to wear them on tip of my nose to be able to see properly even though I was told they would have been ok. second pair better fit but could not get on with the distortion left to right and found that reading section was no better than when reading without specs. When I suggested that I either I change to standard lenses and get refund for difference in cost (which they had done at the store I used a couple of years back) or get full refund and not change specs at all, as my prescription had not changed to any great degree. They have said no they dont have a refund policy in either case.
I know i've been long winded on this but if youve managed to get this far... please can you give me advice.

Thanks for your patience..
