Littlewoods and Westcot Credit Services

 We have just received a letter from Westcot Credit Services, acting on behalf of Littlewoods, demanding almost £100 out of us. Now here's the doozy!!

We haven't had a Littlewoods account since my wife cleared the balance and closed the account for nearly 4 years, can anyone clarify if this has happened to them and what they did about it, or does anyone have any good advice as to what we can do about it.

Pleae help as I think my wife is about to have a nervous breakdown!!

regards
Darren

Have you checked your credit report to ensure that the account was closed?

If there was a teeny bit still outstanding then it may have snowballed over the 4 years.

Do you have proof that you closed the account?

We once received a demand for £8 from some debt collection agency, though we had never used the store card. I paid it off cos they werre nasty and threatning and didn't want the hassle.

Fancy that, being harrased for money you never spent.

one more thing i would like to add, who can we talk to to resolve this matter, Littlewoods say to talk to Westcot, and Westcot tell us to talk to Littlewoods. All seems very pointless. Plus the 4 year gap makes me very suspicious of the whole affair...

If you are not sure about the debt ask in writing for them to provide documentary evidence of it. That should throw the debt on hold until they find the evidence or give in

No. Littlewoods said they would send written confirmation, but it never arrived, we never received ANYTHING from them since. 6 months later we moved house, but I put a mail redirection on the property, which ran for 18 months, and we STILL didn't receive anything from them OR a debt collections agency. It is very frustrating as Westcot just keep saying; "where's the money?", and don't listen to a word we say...
  • just say you do not owe any money if they peersist contact tradeing standards say the are seeking money they say you owe but tell them you do not
