No matter how bad things have been, stealing food has never crossed my mind....I just could not do it.

Mind you, I also can't be without items in my freezer and get all rather OCD about it, I always pick up the whoops or end of date items for pennies when I see them (a throwback to when my parents were in eekness after dad's accident and no money coming in), so even if things were really bad, we would have enough to feed us for a least a fortnight from the freezer contents, yes it would be weird and wonderful stuff and not exactly a balanced diet, but it would still be something to put in our bellies.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

  • and other middle class staples like those nice biscuit selections and those bottles of oil with all the chillis already inside them.

Times are getting tougher. This will be our first Christmas being 'poor'. I would never steal from a shop as the risks to my job for getting any kind of record are not worth it. And it would go against so much of my years of conditioning. Most of that conditioning would be rewritten in a heart beat if I thought my kid was going without though.

But do I feel as much moral condemnation as I used to at the thought of someone lifting a packet of meat and some cheese from some mega corporation to put on the table for their family.

    Not really.

Everyone is noticing they are getting less shopping for ther same units of fiat currency.

If the banks can steal currency when cant the people steal cheese?

But Tesco really don't want their cheese. They want it off the premises as fast as possible. The only issue is whether you're going to pay them the amount they'd like you to.

Given that you're being fleeced rotten on the rest of your load of arbitrarily-priced shopping, you might feel a certain entitlement to a freebie. You might even wonder who's stealing from who.

Fleeced rotten? The margins on most groceries are thin, and indeed it is only by volume that prices are as low as they are. If you want to know what you'd be paying without Mr Tesco's help, have a look at your local corner shop.

Or do we just assume everything should be free? That Tesco staff should be volunteers, that farmers should do it for the love and get over it just because someone chooses to live beyond their means? Free Mercedes all round!

But why stop at Tesco - I like your kitchen table, so it is mine now.

I really can't believe I'm having this argument - you people are scaring me...

Because it is wrong and two wrongs do not make a right.

What if someone was starving SingleSue? An old person, starving through poverty and want of cheese.

You could fill their bellies with cheese, nourishing cheese. By stealing it. From Tesco, who are already sucking the very marrow from the bones of our country like some kind of parasitical ravenous vampire.

Why wont you save the old person Sue? Why wont you steal the cheese?

Because stealing is wrong...simple as that.

And no person need starve, there are plenty of places where a good meal can be obtained for free, for example certain denomination places of worship (you don't need to be of that religion)
