The Ipswich branch of Somerfield is closing on 9.11.11. They have things all over the store, food items and toiletries, all reduced.
Growing old disgracefully!

But we've got T3scos by the dozen - what more could we want? Must admit, reading lilykim's post I said 'do we have a Somerfield?!' Or, I'm so old, I remember Co-op in Carr St and taking my boys to see Santa there...0 -

Santa's Grotto at the co-op was amazing... Santa gave me a Mrs Tiggywinkle "handbag" (fabric purse on a string) which I kept acorns in. Shame its gone so I won't be able to take my own kids there one day.
On the brightside, we will have a waitrose opening soon
And lets hope those somerfield bargains are good! GC2012: Nov £130.52/£125

I spoke to a member of staff as to why they were ceasing, they mentioned it was due to the amount of stock which was stolen daily in the shop was costing them to much money. I guess thats why the original entrance had been closed leaving only one entrance/exit. They couldnt afford to pay a security man during the day either.
So indirectly probably recession if people cant afford food, but I would suspect not.0 -
When ours closed down the wines were reduced to 99p per bottle, some good brands too. Bought Harveys for £1.75 and Cockburns Port for £1.99.0
