Excellent Service from The Post Office / BoE

Hi All,

I just wanted to let you know about the great experience I have had applying for a mortgage via the Post Office.

I submitted my request for an AIP via their intuitive web-site and was immediately approved and provided with a certificate.

Last Monday (7 days ago) I submitted my application for the full mortgage.

The valuation was completed on Wednesday and I received a request for my p60 and last 3 month's slips.

I returned the required documentation which was delivered on Friday and today I received a call to say that my application has been approved and the mortgage has now been 'offered'.

It took just one week to get to the offered status from application :j

During the past week I have received several phone calls and SMS messages keeping me up-to-date on the status of my application.

I was a sole applicant for ~3.5x my income and 90% LTV.

Let's just hope the solicitor is as quick :-)

Hi UrWntr, I have sent you a personal message with a question re: PO mortgage application. If you could please get back to me, that would be a huge help. Thank you.

I replied before you posted this :-)
  • Hi there,

I wondering if you can help me. Myself & my partner are about to buy our first home. I have been using a mortgage advisor but yesterday came across the post office (brokers dont have access to Post Office deals). I spoke to the Post Office last night and they said based on all info i gave they would be able to lend the amount needed. I should recieve the Key Facts Illustration today. Before i apply and wondered how generous they had been?
House we are going for is £228,000 and we have a 10% deposit. My basic is £20k with £12k bonus potential each yr (proven in wage slips from last 6 months) my partner basic is just over £33k but does a lot of extra hours, and his last P60 was just over £50k.
Do you think we would have any problems??
    Thoughts would be appreciated :)
  • UrWntr,

Could you tell me what 'required documentation' you sent?

Did they require bank statements dating back 3 months?

    Many thanks
