When life is getting me down I try to remember to thank God for the blessings0 -
Night would actually be quiet nice, very quiet and better pay!0

Yes £8.50 in the store near me also.
Yes It would be a bit quieter on a night & nicer you would think but then you could also have the drunks & waif & strays causing problems! :eek: hopefully not.0 -
Can be up to £12.74 depending on the shift and site.
Hubby gets that but he works 12 hour shifts.
OH just double read your post...do you mean shop or warehouse ?There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;
So they break the hearts of kith and kin, and roam the world at will.

Yup it's just in store as a 'grocery colleague'... I'm studying from home at the minute and my course is quite intensive so I figured it might be a good way of earning more and working less hours. Quiet is a bonus too
(it's quite out of town so hopefully not too many drunks!)
Thanks for the replies0 -
I work nights for another large supermarket
nights does have big advantages ,better pay,able to attend appointments etc a little easier,brilliant in winter as sleeping is easier,only problem I have is it takes it's toll on your body,as daft as it sounds,it's hard graft ,we are given times to complete jobs etc which sometimes is nt achievable,especially when all your body wants to do is sleep,as for trouble with drunks luckily I haven't seen much of that in five years,think you got to give it a go and see if it suits you,just don't do to many hours!

Thanks Dory - that's a good point... I've never done night work before so I'm not too sure how I'll adapt to it! The position I've applied for is only 2 nights a week, but then I'm a bit confused about getting into a sleeping pattern - i.e do I keep up the sleeping during the day for the whole week? if that makes sense ?!0

night rate has just increased from £8.98 to £9.12 but that is after 12 weeks service. Starting pay was £8.530

you will just make do with a few hours inbetween shifts then sleep normally on your first night off (maybe go to bed early lol). Work 3 nights plus and then yes, you do find yourself not being able to sleep for more than 4 hours without being wide awake for an hour then exhausted again!0
