Endowment Mis-Sold and gone passed the time limit!

Hi,
My wife has an endowment policy running which shortfalls by over £13,000. Looking through her correspondence I notice that one of the letters states that she has up to August 2006 to complain otherwise she would loose the right to complain, we have only just noticed this and have only just complained does this mean she would not be entitled to any compensation because she simply did not notice this, and at the time wasn't aware she was entitled to compensation.
I have had good old moan at her (putting it politely!) that she did not read her correspondence thoroughly and personally I think we are not entitled to anything, does anyone think otherwise?

Cheers,
Tony.
