My London theatre trip - a cautionary tale

Hi guys. Before Chrostmas, I won 2 tickets to a play in London. Someone from the Big Issue rang me and asked me which dates I would like, and we picked Sat 20th Jan as going up from Portsmouth and getting rid of the kids for a night takes major planning.

He said all I needed to do was to turn up at the theatre half an hour before the play started to pick up my tickets. So I was really chuffed.:D

Anyway..... Come 7pm on Saturday night, we turned up at the theatre only to find ot that they'd never heard of us, weren't expecting us, and has sold out:eek: They had a list of all winners from the Big Issue and we were not even on the list. Well I was about to kick off, when she said she could offer us tickets for a different night. No good, as we'd come all the way from Portsmouth, and couldn't just return any old night. :( I thought she was going to turn us away.

Then she said they were part of a chain of theatres and they could probably get hold of some tickets for a different play. So we ended up seeing the Rocky Horror Show which was FAB:D Very funny, and all in all a good night was had by all. But I really thought they were going to send us home

Anyway, a word of caution, if you do win tickets, get them to send you something in writing to confirm your win. soemone else may not be as lucky as us, and just get turned away.

:)

Oh sorry to hear that, guess it would put a bit of a downer on your time away but hope you enjoyed it anyway.

Thanks Helen. It turned out really well in the end, and we would have rather seen the Rocky Horror Show anyway, but it was very embarrassing at the original theatre when we went topick up our non-existant tickets :o

I emailed them yesterday, and the lady from the theatre said she was going to contact the arketing company. I'll let you know what comes of it, if anything:)

I just said basically what I'd said here, but of course I emphasised how embarrassed and upset I was at being told they had never heard of me and had no tickets for me;)

Glad to hear you had a nice time in the end Annie, must have been a bit of a heart-stopper for a while though, hope they send you something nice in apology.
