New Personal Challenge - Can I make £46 per week from nowt

OK so I started to do this quite a while ago after failing with the 11 week challenge.

I want to go to Las Vegas in November when Hubby & I turn 30. A rough costing is £2400. This means saving £46 a week or £6.57 per day! I want to try and get as much as I can from nothing.

My goals are:
1. list one item per day on Ebay
2. Complete as many Cashback searches as I can. Only pennies I know but they all add up.
3. Mystery Shops
4. Bingo Loopholes e.g Spend £10 get £12.50 cashback
5. Use any vouchers in Tesco and pocket what I save into the Vegas account

So far today I have done:
Greasypalm, Shopping.com searches x2 = £0.10
Greasypalm, HighStreetWeb searches x2 = £0.04
Greasypalm, Kelkoo searches x1 = £0.05
Greasypalm, LadbrokesCasino (just register dont deposit) = £2.50
Freefivers, aBerto Car Insurance clickthrough = £0.10
Freefivers, aBerto Banking clickthrough = £0.10
Freefivers, aBerto Home Insurance clickthrough = £0.10
Freefivers, aBerto Broadband clickthrough = £0.10
Freefivers, aBerto Loans clickthrough = £0.10
Freefivers, aBerto Poker clickthrough = £0.10
Freefivers, Kelkoo search = £0.07
Freefivers, Shoppoing.com search = £0.05
Linemypocket, Kelkoo Seach = £0.05
Linemypocket,HighStreetWeb Search = £0.04
Linemypocket, Shopping.com search = £0.04
Linemypocket, Seach Anything Creditcards clickthrough = £0.10
Linemypocket, Lycos Search = £0.01

Listed 1 item on Ebay

Total: £3.65
To Go: £2.92

Anyone care to join in to keep me going and share new ideas?

Have a look on Quidco, cos I think you'll get more for our click thrus on there.

Have you tried pigsback - I know the reward comes in the form of vouchers but say you had a £10 Boots vouchers, then you could use that to buy your own shampoo or whatever and stick the tenner from your purse into the savings jar!

I like your idea. Sounds great. Have you thought about using coupons when doing your food shopping - that can save pennies and pennies soon add up!

    Good luck with this idea!

Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.

Are you signed up with the other places where you can do searches? Two I know of are mutual points, and quidco. You can do searches on both of these. Quidco is also useful when you come to renew house/car insurance, as, assuming a certain company is the cheapest for the insurance, you can go to that company via a quidco link and then get cash back when you take out the insurance.

    Hope this helps

Have you thought about changing bank accounts? Home insurance? Car Insurance etc when up for renewal do it thru Quidco.

Look out for vouchers and codes etc for places that you visit and add your 'savings' to the pot. Maybe have a peek at Old Style too for ideas about saving money with meal plans and the old style life.

I'm already with quite a few cadhback companies annd I do use coupons at Tesco. If I use, for example, 2 x 50p coupons then I suppose I can put £1 in my Vegas fund. Its still a saving isnt it!

    mmm good idea!

Any old mobile phones kicking around?

There is a site which pays a few pounds for old ones. It isn't much but it will definitely be a day's worth of your target.

I can't remember the site though, sorry.......I know I found it on MSE though......it was either money back or some vouchers, possibly Argos ones. I'll see if I can find it.

EDIT: Sorry, I can't find it......I'm someone who knows what I'm talking about will be able to provide a link!

Also if you are on Quidco you can get for example, a new Royal Bank of Scotland credit card at 0% for purchases and 0% for b/transfers for 9 months - and Quidco will give you £12.

I do the daily cashback clicks too and am averaging £2 a day because I do 6 sites. Plus I do Pigsback which averages £10 every 6 weeks for me and £10 every 6-8 weeks for Mr EL.

Make sure next time you are shopping that if you got buy one get 1 free - you save the money you did not spend. Join the £2 Club here on MSE - very inspiring.

List e-bay items on Sundays for 7 days, or on Thursdays for 10 days to get max benefit. Search charity shops for bargains then list them on ebay. If you did the Make Money From Nothing Challenge like I did, you already know plenty on how pennies can be saved ;o)

Also join the Grocery Challenge thread - has saved us loads - we used to spend £160 a month on shopping, now down to £120 - which is £480 a year. Small changes slowly = big savings in the long term.

    Good luck with it!

I am really liking your idea. Not sure that I could manage £46 a week. Might try for say £15 per week and see how I get on... maybe you should come up with some definite rules for this challenge. Over to you, KirstieLou

Could you tell me which 6 sites you use to make £2.00 a day - I have registered with pigsback but that is the only one that I know of for click throughs.

Also, why Sundays on e-bay? Is that the best day for listings to end?

    Thanks.

    Thanks.

sunday evenings seem to get the most traffic on Ebay so your listing will generally have more last-minute bids on it, making more money for you :)
