ppi on a loan

Hi there, new to this so please bear with me.

Was wondering if anyone out there could help with a bit of advice.

My friend has been trying to reclaim PPI on a loan she took out a few years ago. She paid the balance off in 2008 and recently contacted her lender for a copy of the old agreement.

The loan company have said that they cannot issue a copy of her agreement as the loan was paid in full and she is not entitled to reclaim her PPI. Sounds a bit suss to me - anyone know if this is the case?

Many thanks

That is not true. Tell her to write again specifying it's a complaint and then if she has no luck with the company she can take it up with the Financial Ombudsman.
"A bank* is a place where they lend you an umbrella in fair weather and ask for it back when it begins to rain."

(*Unless it's Santander. The branch says they sent you an umbrella 3 times already and don't understand why you don't have it yet and want it back right now!!!)

Please can you provide a bit more information.

Such as who is the lender? On what grounds is the PPI non-refundable?

More to the point, why does she think it IS refundable?

Because every other ad on the TV has convinced her that she was mis-sold it LOL
