Help - Mortgage problems if I change job?

Hi there,
I am looking to buy my first property in April this year. I should just about be able to scrape a mortgage on my current salary.
I have seen a fabulous job that I am thinking of applying for.. (where I would earn more money) however someone has told me I may have trouble getting a mortgage if I have not been in my job very long.
Is this true?
Should I stay in my current job until I get a mortgage?
Or will I be just as well to be earning more money even if I have not been with that employer for long?
thanks for your help

I had no problem with 1 month employment behind me - I however had a copy of a permanent contract which you may require.0

it will depend on the lender so whoever you decide to go with, just be upfront with them and tell them. if you get the new job the lender may just write to your new and old company for references - but as i say check with the lender before submitting to save a credit check being done0
