Wedding in the Bath area

Hi Everyone!
Me and my OH are planning on getting married in 2012 around August September time. I'm just after some advice and tips etc.
OH wants a church wedding so will be looking around some local churches in the near future - however I'm stuck on the reception venue - I have trawled the internet trying to find somewhere appropriate (eg not going to cost the earth) but everywhere I find that looks nice want to charge a bomb on food!
Also, we are planning on getting married around 3ish thus only having to provide one meal and maybe some nibbles but im not quite sure how to go about this - having only ever been to a conventional wedding. Has anyone ever been to/had a weddling along these lines? Does it look cheap?
I would love a barn reception, somewhere I could decorate myself and bring in a company to do something like a hog roast - however I want it to be close enough so that people can get taxi's home so they can drink and have a nice time.
I'm so lost and can't seem to find anything sutiable for an informal but still lovely, pretty wedding - aghhh
Any help would be really really appreciated.

My friend had a lovely wedding reception in a hotel in Saltford. I'll rack my brains to see if I can remember the name of it.0

Not sure of costs/ where they are but might be worth looking at http://www.pristonmill.co.uk or http://www.wickfarmbath.co.uk/0

Thanks guys - we are actually going to see Priston Mill on Wednesday - however this is the kind of place I was talking about re food costs. They are really beautiful places I'm just not sure I can spend around £3,000 on food that no one will really remember.0

I've just looked on Ebay at wedding dresses and they have brand new lovely looking Dresses for around £65! How is this possible when they look as good as the dresses I have seen in the shops? Crazy! I guess the only thing is that you don't get to try it on before you buy it.0

Be careful with ebay wedding dresses - the pictures you see are not the dress you are buying; they're lifted from the genuine manufacturer's website. The actual dress will be a copy, frequently of an extremely poor quality, made with cheap fabrics, with poor imitations of the details of the dress, etc. You may be lucky, and there are guidelines on here to follow if you want to go that route, but there are a lot of horror stories!
There are lots of other ways of getting a bargainous dress - pre-loved, buying the sample, recruiting a talented friend/relative to make it for you...

Ah I see - that makes sense now! I thought it was too good to be true!
Have had a small brainwave - think I will look into hiring a local church/villiage hall and get a company to decorate it with the lovely material etc - anyone know of any good companies for the decor? Has anyone else done this?0
